We spent four nights in Yellowstone - the longest stay of our trip so far. It was America's first national park and it is such a big place! You could stay for weeks and still be constantly seeing new things.
It was quite cold at first.
Frost on everything.
Including this bison calf.
Our animal sighting list got longer. There were bison everywhere. They seem like such gentle beasts, with an enormous amount of power resting just beneath the surface.
Some strong elk as well...
Most of the world's geysers are preserved in Yellowstone.
We were excited to catch this one going off as we were strolling. It is named Vixen.
Of course, I loved this little one, though it wasn't very active - it is beehive shaped.
My impatience emerged while waiting for Old Faithful to erupt. I was convinced it wasn't going to give us much of a show. Boy, was I wrong.
